Welcome to the ExtremeHorizon surf diary. We are going to throw in any surf related stuff here and any updates on additions to our surf shop so we hope you find something of interest. If you have any cool surf stories or something you would like to share with the world why not drop us a line via our contact page: Oct 5th The NE groundswell was still there at around 2ft but a strong Southerly cross shore whipped up some localised waves and the whole thing was messed up. Air temp approx 12c and raining....mmm nice. Oct 04th Sutton on sea: At last the waves have returned. Today saw a super clean 2-3ft NE offshore groundswell, which produced some fairly long peeling lefts. Oct 02nd WCT Mundaka kicks off with flawless 3-6ft hollow conditions. If kelly Slater wins this, he will secure the 2006 WCT Title for an unbelievable 8th time! Oct 01st Wave Rider Buzzy Trent Dies at 77. A sad note for the surf community: Buzzy Trent, one of the pioneers of big wave riding, died on Wednesday in Honolulu. He went to Hawaii from San Diego in 1953 and quickly established himself as a fearless big wave charger. He, along with George Downing, conquered Big Makaha and paved the way for future generations of big wave riders. Buzzy is the one who said that big waves are not measured in feet, they are measured by increments of fear. Sept 30th Joel parkinson wins French leg of WCT tour. Sept 8th Sutton on sea-very clean 2-3ft longish period groundswell light onshores. Low tide killed it though Sept 08th HULL, Portsmouth and Cardiff have been named yesterday as the British cities most likely to face New Orleans-style flooding. The warning was issued by flood defence experts as the country braces itself for an imminent series of extremely high tides, raising fears of a repeat of the devastation of 1953.Holiday resorts on the East Coast are at the highest risk but all coastal areas face the threat of the worst flooding in a generation if bad weather accompanies unusually high tides between 6-13th Sept and 6-11 October. In East Anglia the tide is expected to be the highest since 1985 and along the northeast coast it is forecast to be the highest in ten years. Sept 05th Mablethorpe. 1-2ft clean offshore groundswell...just about longboardable at low tide. Sept 04th Extremehorizon now stocking Slide surf magazine:Slide Magazine was created to convey the lifestyle and culture of surfing in the UK and Ireland as it's never been done before. Long lefts of low tide banks but got too fat at mid/high tide unless you braved the shore dump. Aug 24th Extremehorizon Launch new surfboard lock design: Following on from the success of Extremehorizon's Lockjaw fin plug and fin box surfboard locks, we are pleased to announce the launch of a brand new design to add to the Lockjaw range- The Lockjaw Leash Plug System. This board lock provides a perfect solution for those looking for a quick and simple solution to preventing opportunist surfboard theft, which works with all boards fitted with a standard leash plug. Just loop the lanyard through a secure anchor point ie car roof bars, car alloy wheels, slip the lanyard loop through your leash plug attached the padlock and you have a safe board! The system construction is based on a PVC plastic coated 4mm width, 2m length, stainless steel marine cable lanyard, so it isn't going to rust or ding a board. The flexible steel cable is used in shipping and has a massive breaking strain, so its going to hold a surfboard! A determined thief can and will steal almost anything, but this product is a major deterrent and will stop the opportunist thief. The lock is lightweight (ideal for travelling surfers), it takes seconds to fit, it works with all boards fitted with leash plugs (custom boards, Surftech, Bic, NSP etc) and is inexpensive with a recommended RRP of £8.99 or approx $15 USD. Aug 15th Sandilands Lincs- PM Low to mid tide 3-4ft super clean groundswell, light offshores. Some peaky steep waves for the shortboarders and longer rides (lefts and rights for the longboards). Nov 29th 05 Mablethorpe surf report-The beach at Sea view has developed offshore sand banks right along its length which are blocking all but the smallest swells at low tide. South of Mablethorpe today was classic with light westerlies, a solid 3-4ft NE groundswell hitting the banks at a semi-secret spot and forming long peeling, hollow, glassy lefts. Air temp 2C Nov 27th 05 Skegness surf report- Skeg north shore had the cleanest conditions of the day along the lincs coast, with offshore winds holding up the 3-4ft groundswell. Worked well at mid-high tide on the push, but the bank between the groynes near the beach ramp has been filled in so the wave machine like left at high tide has gone. Nov 25th 05 Learning to surf in Bali. This diary story is from friends of ours, Dom and Nicky, who are travelling in the southern hemisphere and missing all the joys of the start of a British winter(we aren't envious!). They decided that whilst at their first destination, Bali, they'd take the opportunity to learn to surf. The story includes tips on learning to surf, costs of lessons, surfboard hire, Kuta surf schools etc. Then following their Indo surf experience Dom and Nicky moved on to Australia where the story continues...watch this space! -------------------------------------- We weren't to sure if we wanted to surf in Bali. Surf? Relax on the beach? But hey as soon as we saw all the surf schools and loads of people in the sea having the craic there was no going back. We knew we had to do it. It looked like so much fun we had to have it. We scouted around for a few places to see what was on offer and to be honest most were fairly similar but we just found Bali School of Surf really helpful and accommodating so we booked with them. We went for a one on one lesson first. Two of us and an instructor. Our instructor was Nas from Sydney. He'd been an instructor for over 5 years and had done surf rescue at Bondi for 7 years so very well qualified. We felt safe! The first thing he told us was that stretching was very important. If you don't stretch you'll be in agony as you are bound to use muscles you've never used before. After the warm up it was down to business. Firstly we were shown the basics of the board, leg rope, fin, rails and finding your centre on the board. We both started with 9 foot soft surfboards. They were enormous and for me it was pretty difficult to carry but at least there were lads around to help! To find your centre you should place your toes on the bottom of the surfboard just above the fin, or there abouts. You should lie straight down the middle of the board with your hands flat on the board and directly under you nipples pushing up as waves approach. We were shown the two step way of getting up, push up, arms up, bum in the air like a cat arching it's back. Put your trailing leg in place first followed by your leading leg and most importantly bend the knees and look forward not down. All sounds great on beach but I'm sure it'll be different when we hit the water. We were also given tips on safety. A 9 foot long 'soft' board can do a lot of damage in the water (we have the bruises to prove it). He also told us how to spot rips in the water. How to avoid them or use them to our advantage. Then the big test, in the water. It was great craic but at first we weren't getting very far. Nas was quick to spot where we were going wrong. I kept sitting up on my knees and from there I was stuck with no where to go. And Dom didn't have his toes on the board so he just couldn't get up. All easy stuff now but at the time we hadn't a clue what was going on as there's so much to remember. After around an hour we were getting stood up but then of course the balance thing came in and we'd be straight off. Nas pointed out we were standing straight and not bending our knees also looking forward and not at our feet. After two hours we thought we were pros!! Okay not pros but we were pretty chuffed with ourselves. It was all great fun, I felt really safe and I also felt like I'd achieved something. Cool, roll on tomorrow. Oh boy, why oh why did we agree to the next day. I know they said stretching would be great but I ached in placed I didn't know existed. Nas laughed when he saw us and knew we were suffering. We had another instructor that day to called Matt. He was pretty cool also (I think it was actually his surf school). Today was about paddling and making your way out to that perfect wave. Sounds easy, oh no. My paddling was all over the place. I kept falling off my board. I couldn't sit on the board as it was so big it kept popping out and then I was in the whitewash. Basically I was all over the place. All great experience but not really the fun part. I realised I wasn't paddling properly, taking my hands from the front of the surfboard cupped right to the back of the surfboard before exiting the water. It definitely helped when I finally got the hang of it but I was exhausted and just wanted a break. It was then I think I changed to an 8 foot soft board and we were told about the eskimo roll!!! Sounds fun. Basically when a wave is coming for you instead of leaning up you can flip your board over which acts as an anchor. With this method you loose no paddling ground and don't move and when the wave has passed just flip back! Oh yes it sounds easy. I loved it. It was great but there was no way in the world I could flip myself back on top. We had great fun trying though. And on our final day we did pig dogin! It was time to learn to turn, bending the knees, stepping back on the board, using your feet and pointing. There was another option which was called the pig dog where you don't actually stand up but hold one rail while leaning to the other side which causes you to turn. I didn't explain that very well now did I? Anyway it was really good fun which is the most important thing. We also learned about wave types and what we should and shouldn't be surfing at this stage. And surf ethics. Never cutting up another surfer...the worst thing you can do in surfing not just because you rob the surfers wave but you may damage his precious board. The whole 3 days were fan fecking tastic....am I allowed say that? We loved it. I could have stayed in Bali for weeks just practicing what we'd learned. We felt safe there, knew the beach and knew an instructor who'd keep an eye on us....but hey we had to move on, Australia beckoned. We actually made our own package up which was 3 days course with one person at US$95 and the second person at half price. It was a great bargain with included rash vest, sun cream and water, all of which you need in the Balinese sun. We also hired boards which was US$3 for a half day and I think US$6 for a full day. One day they even let us just take the boards. It was all very relaxed.

Nov 13th 05 Sandilands report- 2-3ft short period swell, moderate Northerly winds. Strong lateral rips. Nov 12th 05 Lincolnshire surf report. 0-1ft today, but the deep low over scotland looks like it'll push some swell our way later on Sunday at 3-4ft, so catching the early afternoon tidal push may be the best option. The Low is producing northly winds though, so Skeg northshore may provide some protection (works best at high tide). Monday looks like it'll be better on the same swell at around 3ft but a highs pushing in which may give us light SW offshores...take a day off work! Oct 22nd 05 Sutton on sea,Mablethorpe surf report/ surf forecast. Looking too small today but Sunday looks like there may be small groundswell pushing down from the north at 2-3ft with light northerlies so could be OK. Wind later swung more Northerly and it messed up completely. Surf forecast for the weekend-perhaps a small localised wave Fri-Sun but onshore, early next week looks more promising for a northerly ground swell. LockJaw helps save another surfboard- Heres some positive feedback from an owner of a LockJaw board security system..."On my recent camping/surfing holiday to Cornwall, some lowlife attempted to steal my boyfriends surfboard off my car roofrack. It happened on the campsite where we were staying, it wasn't even late and we had just gone for a shower, when we returned we found the straps on the roofrack had been cut, but thanks to the lockjaw the board was left in place. Unfortunately the couple camped next to us weren't so lucky and had one of their boards stolen that same evening. So £20 and some minor hassle attatching the lockjaw saved us from having £300's worth of board stolen, money well spent!" -Sian Sept 26th 05 Breaking news: The Realm anounce a British "Big" wave contest. It is widely beleived that some of Britain's best surfers are NOT currently chasing ratings points and attending contests in the UK and Europe. The Realm is giving the opportunity to these surfers to prove themselves in a 'contest' that is far more suited to their type of surfing. The Porthleven challenge will have a waiting period of six months commencing on the first of October. The criteria for the contest to run is a minimum six foot swell so that both the surfers and the location-Porthleven reef will be showcased in ideal conditions. All sponsors are thoroughly stoked to have the full support of Porthleven surf Club who will be assisting closely with the organisation and running of the event. UK Surfers expected to take part are Jake Boex, Russell Winter, Gabe davies, Spencer Hargreaves...Watch this space for any updates. Sept 25th 05 Mablethorpe surf report- small am wave 1-2ft on mid-high tide push. Moderate SSW winds cleaned up localised East swell. Swell direction caused all waves at this spot to peel right. Rest of week doesnt look too promising-at best there may be a chance of a wind swell later in the week. Sept 19th 05 East coast surf forecast- Theres a tiny wave today at 0-1ft and the rest of the week looks flat. However theres a fairly deep low developing towards the end of the week sitting to the North of Scotland that should push down some swell, so Sat and Sunday are looking hopeful, but not sure on wind direction/speed yet Sept 17th 05 Sandilands-The wind swung offshore sooner than expected and really cleaned up the 2-4ft swell. There were plenty of peaks along the beach with some hollow waves just before early afternoon low tide breaking into fairly shallow water. Low tide saw the swell mess up though. Although it was sunny the air had an Autumn feel to it and the water temp seemed to have dropped as I couldnt feel my toes after 2 hrs in the water! Sept 16th 05 Sandilands surf report- 4ft plus but strong onshores, blown out and not really surfable Sept14th 05 Lincs/east coast weekend surf forecast. Nothing surfable today but it looks like Friday will see the start of a decent size swell that could last into early next week. The pressure charts are showing strong onshore winds for Friday and cross shore winds on Sat. Sunday looks best as it might go offshore but the swell size may have dropped off....but who really knows! Sept 10th 05 East coast surf report- 2-3ft gutless localised easterly windswell, offshore North east winds...not exactly classic but tried out the new Extremehorizon model board, shaped by Mark Neville at Seabase, who also produce Hobie and Stewart boards. Forecast for next few days- as the wind drops the tail end of the swell may clean up later Sunday and Monday- after that it looks flat again. Sept 08th 05 East coast surf report- Still flat but it looks as though we may get a small localised easterly wind swell this Sat/Sun/Mon. I wouldnt guess it'll be any more than 2ft onshore mush but I might be wrong! Sep 04th 05 The team spent a few days in Newquay filming for the upcoming "Surf Guide to Newqauy" DVD, where we talked to the guys at the Eden Project doing some great work with Balsa "Eco" boards, we interviewed Andy at Surfers Against Sewage who continue to apply the pressure where its needed (they are also working on an "Eco" board project which sounds very interesting). We also scored one of the best Cornish swells of the summer with Tue 30th Aug at 4-5ft offshore, through to the Friday with super clean 2ft lines. We surfed Fistral beach on the last day and despite perfect waves, clear green water and blue skys, it wasnt as much fun as the crowds are horrendous. Fair play I suppose...because we all have to start somehwere but surf schools and beginners clog up all the main beaches. I dont envy the Newquay locals as surf schools seem to be breeding down there! and none of the beginners appear to have learnt the drop in rule.....if you want to learn to surf then great, but learn about dropping in and DONT do it!! Aug 26th 05 East coast surf report: Its been flat for a while now and it looks set to continue for the next 6-7 days. We were hoping the deep low that swung across Northern Scotland over the past few days would continue east a little more and push down a swell, but it didn't materialise. Still if you get bored we have a good selection of surf DVDs to buy at our online shop! Aug 17th 05 East coast surf report/prediction-Other than a possible small localised wave late this Friday, it looks like its going to be flat until at least early next week.... Aug 15th 05 Mablethorpe pm-Decent swell at 2-3ft but messed up by light SE crosshore winds. Looks to be dropping off over the next few days Aug 11th 05 Mablethorpe UK surf report PM- Wave size picked up but was localised windswell generated by SE winds. 3-4ft messy and all over the place, just surfable. Hopefully this will clean up and maybe produce a small wave for the next couple of days. Aug 10th 05 Mablethorpe surf report-PM Mid tide the swell is dropping off but has cleaned up. 1-2ft, variable winds, longish rides. Low tide killed it off, may work later on the push. Looking small until at least Saturday. Aug 08th 05 Sandilands PM- High tide big and messy with crosshore winds, 6ft+ sets and strong rips. Aug 07th 05 Sutton on sea-3ft messy, Moderate NW Skegness surf report- PM 1-2ft totally blown out, only just rideable on the worlds slowest wave! Despite small conditions the lateral rip was really strong Aug 03rd 05 Mablethorpe-Flat Aug 02nd 05 Sutton on sea surf report. 1-2ft, light offshores. Long period swell, super clean small long lines. Great on the longboard Aug 1st 05 Sutton on sea surf report-2ft clean, offshore. Swell still showing. July 31st 05 Sandilands. This week has seen rideable waves all the way through, at 1-3ft. Today saw a bigger long period groundswell kick in at a solid 4ft+ with the odd 6ft set coming through this morning. Sandilands at mid-high tide was messed up with a moderate NW crosshore wind, so we headed south to Skegness and were well surprised. High tide at Skegness North End had a solid 3-4ft swell, but as the beach faces ESE the wind was offshore. The waves break left off the groynes along the beach almost like a mini- pointbreak and were long and clean with the occasional barrel hissing down the line....a rare sight in Lincolnshire! July 25th 05 Mablethorpe surf report PM- mid tide, light SE breeze, 1-2ft clean long period swell. Slow wave but fun on a longboard! July 24th 05 Sutton on Sea surf report- wind turned to moderate SE and has blown out what was left of the Northerly groundswell, leaving wind blown mush. 2ftish and just about surfable as the morning high tide dropped, as tide neared the low it just got worse. July 23rd 05 Sutton- Swell is holding out at 2-3ft, Nrthly wind has dropped off and the waves are cleanish, fun and the suns shining! A few surfers out today (8-10 so well crowded!) July 22nd 05 Mablethorpe AM- 4ft strong Northerly crosshore-blown out and all messed up. Most waves closing out. Strong lateral rips. July 21st 05 Mablethorpe AM- the NE swell is starting to show at 1-2ft with moderate cross shore winds. Regular sets breaking off the mid-tide bank, needs to be bigger to get the bank working well. July 20th 05 Mablethorpe- No sign of the predicted 5 day swell yet. Still flat with moderate W'ly winds. Should hopefully pick up over the next few days July 18th 05 To see me through yet another extended flat spell I have been reading a number of surf books, so heres a quick surf book review with my thoughts: Kelly Slaters "Pipe Dreams" is an autobiography running up to 2004 and his return to the ASP. It's an interesting enough read which portrays his early life in Florida with a great deal of honesty. The book focuses on his remarkable acheivements and competitive life on the WCT. The quality of the writing isn't great (but the guy is a surfer not a writer!) and its a little disjointed at times but it provides a good insight into the world of professional surfing and is worth a read. "The Big drop" A collection of surfing Stories. This is a must have book, charting the early pioneering days of big wave riding in Hawaii through to more modern times. Its a well edited compilation of stories either written by the surfers themselves or by sports writers who have interviewed them. The book offers some fascinating stories and gives an insight on all of the top big wave watermen like the early characters of Greg Noll, Ricky Griggs, Peter Cole, Buzzy Trent, Jose Angel, Fred Van Dyke and the guys now leading the way like, Mike Parson, Laird Hamilton, Brock Little etc. There are some excellent stories set in places like Waimea, Todos Santos, Mavericks and the Outer reefs of Oahu which show what sort of commitment it takes to surf these waves. Great Book "Tijuana Straits" Kem Nunn. Another great book from this author, though this is less surfy than his others "Dogs of Winter" and "Tapping the Source". Its a dark tale set on the borders of CA and Tijuana which holds plenty of twists and suspension to make it an enjoyable read, however if your after more surfing per page check out the other two books first. July 10th 05 Sandilands PM- Strong NW winds produced some localised windswell at 1-2ft. Weak and messy but lots of fun. There were 5 people out today...I hate crowds! July 05th 05 Mablethorpe AM surf report. A fairly deep low over Scotland has sent down a small groundswell of 2-3ft, wind S/SW moderate to strong off/crosshore. Mid tide produced some fairly long rides, with the odd bigger set closing out on one of the banks. July 01st 2005 "Maybe's" surf report from Brandon West Coast Ireland- 2ft groundswell, offshore, raining. June 28th 2005 Seeing as its flat (again!) I thought to give the board some much needed attention with a new coat of surf wax and 3 ding repairs. For the ding repairs I used the Seabase ding repair kit which has all of the necessary components to complete a quality, long lasting job. Using a shredded glass fibre and resin mix, the dings repaired well, sealing the cracks. The job was finished off with a coarse sandpaper followed by wet and dry paper, so the boards now good to go. I also got rid of 2 years worth of surf wax by leaving the board face up in the sun (the wax melted within minutes) and removed the years of old wax (turned brown by the North sea!) with the edge of a wax comb. It didnt take long to do and after a fresh coat of Sticky Bumps wax the board looks as good as new. Now we just have to wait for another swell! "Maybe" Ireland surf report- Fanore County Clare, 3ft, light Northerlies, cloudy...Guiness good! June 27th 2005 Simon "Maybe" Weir, partner in crime from our surf Film Company, Devil County Films has been off on a surf trip to the west coast of Ireland (lucky man) to catch a few Atlantic waves, sup some Guiness and capture some footage for our sometime surf guide film to Ireland. The swell in Lahinch in County Clare was small today, with light N/NW onshore winds and blue skys. However theres a big swell forecast for the weekend, so lets hope the wind swings round for that. June 26th 2005 Mablethorpe UK east coast-Surfed the tail end of the localised easterly windswell at high to mid-tide. Wind was light and onshore, waves were 2ft+ and despite being wind slop were fun after not being in the water for so long because of the flat spell. As tide dropped the waves disappeared, so now begins another wait! June 25th 2005 A moderate onshore is creating a small messy windswell. June 20th 2005 UK East coast-Still Flat/dead calm/doldrums!! June 14th 2005 Mablethorpe am: The final day of the most recent groundswell saw it at 2ft, well lined up SW off/crosshore moderate, clean swell. Fun longboard day with clean peeling lefts off one of the banks at mid/high tide. High tide killed it off June 12th 2005 Mablethorpe am: 3ft + well lined up NE groundswell, moderate Westerlies, offshore. It felt more like winter today with cold air temps, grey skys and a more solid swell. June 9th 2005 Flat! but signs of a small swell from Sat till Tues June 8th 2005 am This morning saw the last of the swell with super clean lines at 2ft, with light SW offshores. Swell dropped by midday, wind picked up and turned Sth and chopped up what was left of the waves. Good fun Mal morning and the sunblock had its first outing of the year...long live the summer! June 7th 2005 am Mablethorpe UK. The groundswell cleaned up and the swell increased to around 3ft+. Wind was NE onshore but light, so conditions were good. Mid tide saw some long peeling lefts and rights, with mid-low producing some hollower shorter waves. The sun was shining and I was the only one out other than a very inquisitive seal that would not leave the line up and at times got too close for comfort. It scared the hell out of me when it appeared as long forgotten talk of the mystery NE coast Mako shark came to mind! June 06th 2005 pm Mablethorpe. Signs of a small 1-2ft Northerly groundswell, but moderate onshore NE wind is blowing it out into near unsurfable slop. May 31st 2005 pm Evening session in 2ft windswell. Light onshores with the occasional cleanish wave at low tide but as the tide began to push the conditions turned to messy slop (but the sun was shining!) May 31st 2005 Well we are back from the sunny shores of Cornwall having had a fantastic 10 days filming the WCT womens Roxy Jam event and the Run to the Sun, for our upcoming DVD release "A Surf Guide to Newquay". As part of the filming schedule we were fortunate enough to meet up with and interview a number of the top competitors, Quiksilver Roxy organisors and Quiksilver sponsored riders, including Lisa Anderson, Rochelle Ballard, Layne Beachley, Sofia Mulanovich, Dave Kalama, so we'll be bringing you the interviews with those guys at a later date. We also hooked up with Grishka Roberts to film one of his surf school lessons- he runs the UKs only Quiksilver Roxy Surf school out of the Boarding House in Newquay....if you are looking to learn to surf give him a call on 01637 873 258. We also got involved in some of Bank Holiday Run to the Sun madness- where almost overnight Newquay turned into a town overun by thousands of boys and girls hell bent on drinking the town dry! We also just wanted to say a big thanks to the following people for helping out last week: Quiksilver and Roxy who looked after us well, the team at Wavelength Magazine, all those competitors and Roxy girls who allowed us some time to talk with them, the Sunnyside Holiday park for supplying accomodation, Grishka and the guys at the Boarding House and to Russell and the lads for a great bank holiday weekend.
.jpg) May 19th 2005 The ExtremeHorizon Team are now heading down south, leaving the hardcore waters of the North Sea to venture to the near tropical shores (well compared to the NE they are!) of Cornwall. We'll provide an update on the swell, the Roxy Jam womens surf comp and whatever else happened when we return. May 18th 2005 Kelly Slater breaks his own record by scoring two perfect 10 point rides in the Tahiti Billabong pro- Slater won the event staged in perfect 4-6ft Teahupoo. Chelsea Georgeson won the womens event. May 15th 2005 UK east Coast: Still onshore NE'lies but very light so what little swell there was at 1-2ft was cleanish, but the sun was shining, the water is getting warmer and for the first time of 2005 the gloves were able to come off which was great! May 13th 2005 UK east Coast: getting tired of these onshore E/NE winds!! May 12th 2005 Extreme Horizon have a sister company, Devil county films which specialise in surfing films and are currently in the process of producing a selection of UK surfing DVDs. These films will highlight all of the major UK surfing destinations, but with a slightly different slant to the usual surf movie. Our films will of course concentrate on where to surf and have loads of surfing action but they will also include interviews with top local surfers, information on where to stay, where to eat, ideal weather conditions for swell in the area, where to shop etc which should provide a complete picture of a destination. The first release is set on the UK south coast centred around Brighton...not exactly a world class surf destination but on its day can be good and if you live in the South East UK its a close spot to get in the water. Next up will be a guide to Newquay and a lot of the filming is going to be done at the end of the month starting with the Roxy Jam in Perranporth. Its so cool to have the top female surfers competing on our shores and we'll be there to film the event, and meet and capture the thoughts of some of the stars...watch this space for further updates!! May 10th 2005 Launch of the Extreme Horizon surf shop surf info pages supplying a range of information on surf topics including, learning to surf, surfboard design, surf safety, surfing etiquette and surfboard equipment-all available to request as emailed PDF files May 9th 2005 UK east coast surfed 3-4ft+ short period messy swell. Winds moderate N/NW cross shore. Strong rips. Hoping that the wind will drop/ change direction and we might have a few good days. May 5th 2005 UK east coast clean 2ft+ groundswell appeared at last taday. Winds moderate W/NW cross/offshore. I was the only one out and there was no sign of the mythical mako shark! May 3rd 2005 UK East coast 8 days and its still flat! Its that bad we're looking forward to a possible small onshore windswell tomorrow!
April 27th 2005 Extreme Horizon is based on the UKs East Coast, and surfing here requires patience as the swells can be fickle and inconsistant, but its home and we love it and when the swells do kick in you appreciate them all the more! The last 2 sessions on Sunday and Monday were poor with a short period windswell producing onshore mush at about 1-2ft on Sun and 3-4ft and blown out on Mon-but its good to get in and get wet anyway!! No sign of a new swell for a while. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

MAY 2005
Extreme Horizon are back from filming the Roxy Jam WCT Womens surf competition in Perranporth. The Event was a great success despite howling onshore winds in Perranporth for the first few days, which meant that the competition was moved to St Agnes mid week for 2 days (much to the surprise of the locals!). The comp was finished off back in Perrnaporth on Thursday 26th May with Chelsea Georgeson and Sofia Mulanovich competing on a solid swell. Sofia won the comp, keeping her in the lead of pack on the WCT tour. During the event we met up with and interviewed a number of the competitors and organisors including Lisa Anderson, Layne Beachley, Rochelle Ballard and Dave Kalama, and we'll be bringing you some of those interviews over the coming months so watch this space....
