The Fat boy flyer is a big, bouytant shortboard. Increased volume, paddling speed, duck divability and manoueverability are the main emphasis of this shape.
The overall volume of this shape of board is great for various abilities, wide-ish and thick-ish so bouyant. The width in the nose brings your centre of gravity up the board which is good for wave catching and the width in the tail (generally more width than a mini mal) gives the board a little extra stability when up a riding.
The flat rocker makes the board plain/paddle really well which aids catching waves and paddling out quickly.
The tail shape make the FBF shape more progressive than the general mini-mal shape, the hips on the rails draw the width in quickly to a swallow tail. The hips give ace points to pivot on when you progress into turning the board more. The swallow loosens the board up so you will progress into turning the board harder, also priciple of the swallow means tighter turns are more possible which is great for smaller waves. the channels create an 'air pocket' under the tail of the board which also helps to loosen the board up in the turns and also makes the board more forgiving to unsmooth movements. A board recommended for people begining and progressing/wanting to catch lotsa waves/wanting loadsa fun/wanting to progress/etc It will go a 1ft to 6ft!
